Workshops in Beginner Basic Hula Steps and Protocols

All new students wishing to take part in regular hula classes in the 2009-2010 season must take part in the Beginner Basic Hula Steps and Protocols workshops. This workshop is a pre-requisite to attending regular classes and is mandatory for all new students to our halau who have experience in hula, or not.
1. Keiki class (6 yrs to 12yrs): 10am – 11:30am
Fee: $20.00 per person
2. Adult class (13+ yrs): 12:30pm – 2:30pm
Fee: $25.00 per person
The object of the workshops is to introduce basic hula steps and protocols that we observe in our halau, including oli. We will also explain class formats, uniforms, class supplies, halau structure, and expectations of haumana (students).

Ka 'Aha Hula 'O Halauaola 2009 Hula Conference will be an extraordinary gathering. More than 100 Kumu Hula, cultural practitioners, artisans, and hula enthusiasts will share their knowledge, experience and artistry with hundreds of participants. Each day will be filled with dawn-to-dark activities for anyone interested in hula and Hawaiian culture. We are so pleased to be able to welcome all of you to O‘ahu and the beauties of this island.

Aloha, On July 23 - 25th, Ke Kukui Foundation will be hosting three days of food, hula, arts and crafts, and music. This year's events have expanded with the theme of Hapa Haole which celebrates the Territorial era of Hawaiian music from the 1920s to 1950s.
Hula & Craft Workshop

Our craft this year is an Advanced Guitar workshop taught by renown Hawaiian artist, Roland Cazimero. Two hula 'auana workshops are led by kumu hula Vicky Holt-Takamine and legendary performer Kanoe Miller. Online registration is now open for all workshop classes. Class sizes are limited so please register early.

Our Ho`ike & Hawaiian Festival will again be held in beautiful downtown Vancouver, WA. Nominated “Most Outstanding Event” two years in a row, 6,000-8,000 attendees will revel in the offerings of Polynesian arts and crafts vendors, Hawaiian food, shave ice, music, kids activities, performances from the winners of the Hapa Haole competition and several hula halau. Bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy a full day of All Things Hawaiian at the Park.
